New Museum > Museum Minds

We've all tried going to a museum with the best of intentions, and have ended up feeling tired, even exhausted by the experience. If you Google the words "museum", "tiring", "exhausting" and "boring", you get more than 6 million hits! And there's a reason for that. Although museums themselves don't like to admit it, sometimes they are in fact just as dry and dusty as they are made out to be.
Right now, the planning of a new national natural history museum is under way in Denmark. Our aim is not just to improve the current museum, but to renew it for the 21st century. We want to create:
-
a museum which is relaxing and enjoyable to visit
-
a museum which generously shares of its knowledge and offers enriching experiences for the visitor
-
a museum and a garden which are integrated and full of light and fresh air
-
a museum where one can go for inspiration, and which encourages contemplation and further enquiry
Museum Minds, Centre for Museum Innovation
Museum Minds, a centre at the Natural History Museum of Denmark, is developing the exhibitions and public outreach activities for the new museum. We collect and analyse
information, and through broad collaborations we pave the way for new visitor experiences.
